CELEBRATING PRINT
The Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA) is a trade association dedicated to representing the graphics arts industry throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
Every year, GLGA hosts a Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) competition that recognizes winners of excellent craftsmanship in design, creation, and production of top-quality printed materials. Learn more about the GEA here.
This year, a few of us at Delzer had the opportunity to join in the 2017 Awards Annual festivities – and collect some hardware while we were at it!
THE VOTES ARE IN
Sixty-nine companies submitted more than 800 entrees their pieces in for a chance at Best of Category and Best of Division for a variety of niche printing techniques. Of those 800 entrees, 139 were recognized at the GEA, including Delzer Lithograph.
We had the honor of receiving 1 Best of Category, 1 Best of Division, 4 Awards of Excellence, and 9 Certificates of Merit.
Our production of waterfowl hunting gear provider, Hardcore, 2017 Product Guide got us recognized for Best of Category in Digital Printing-On-Demand. In case you’re unfamiliar with the term, print on demand (POD) is a process that uses digital technology to print small quantities, including even a singular order.
Next up, Delzer also was recognized for the production of Marquette’s Opus College of Engineering magazine, Marquette Engineer, in Best of Division for Architectural/Art/Travel/Other Magazines. We landed in Division 3 for this, meaning that our organization is categorized as a printer with 51-100 employees.
A SHOUTOUT TO OUR FELLOW INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
While we certainly are proud of our own accomplishments, we want to also recognize our fellow industry professionals for their accomplishments as well. There were so many great pieces on display that evening. Great job to all!
A special shoutout, also, to WCTC students, Keara Wingert and David Godbolt, for receiving awards as well that evening. We love seeing students getting recognized for their craftsmanship in printing as they pursue their degrees!
